WOX - World Of Xoops Welcome to the February 2010 issue of WOX (World of XOOPS) Newsletter - (see here previous versions ) As always, as the first thing in each newsletter we wanted to express our gratitude to all of you who have donated money to XOOPS Foundation ! We truly appreciate your trust and support! What a great start of 2010 - January was an extremely busy month. We've released XOOPS 2.4.4 and XOOPS 2.5.0 Alpha . Unfortunately, we also lost a member of our community - Marcello Brandao , who lost his battle with cancer. In appreciation of his vast contributions to XOOPS and saddened by his untimely death, the XOOPS Council decided to induct Marcello Brandao into XOOPS Hall of Fame . We have also filed our deposition in court in Netherlands in a lawsuit against our former Project Manager, Herko Coomans, for return of XOOPS funds and Intellectual Property back to the XOOPS Community. XOOPS is getting top positions in various rankings: #4 in The 5 Best Open-Source Social Networking Software #6 in The 12 Most Popular CMS Requested by Customers of Digital Pacific and the press is taking notice as well - good article in CMS Wire and good reprint in CMS Report There are also more and more articles about Installing XOOPS, e.g. here in PC Quest , or at various web hosting companies. It feels good....

TS-My Startup Page goes Blue - version 0.4 released

The TS-My Startup Page module allows an administrator to specify which module is shown at startup for a specific group after login or for anonymous users, i.e. you can now redirect specific groups of users to a part of your site that suits them with an easy to use administration interface. This version is a small update to the original 0.3 version. Changes in this version include: - Updated to be compatible with XOOPS 2.4.x - Bugfix relating to user being member of several groups - Possibility to update start order Download: Click here Install: Read the enclosed installation instructions in install.txt. Please note that this module requires you to add a line to the include/checklogin.php page. A regular update of the module is possible by copying over the old files and updating the module. 4 Seasons Theme now Free

4 Seasons Theme is a 2 columns fixed width theme for all versions of XOOPS and has been tested with few popular modules . It has 4 distinctive styles representing the 4 seasons, styles can be switched by clicking on one of the 4 small buttons located on top of the left column, with a minimum of work one should be able to split the theme in 4 distinctive themes and use each one on a different site (further support can be requested in the forum). The theme was optimized for all modern browsers meaning that it WON'T work on IE6 or earlier versions Theme is W3C XHTML compliant and CSS level 2.1 validated. It was released as commercial some time ago but as theme reached its quota I have decided to distribute it Free. It's been eight months since the TDM (Team Development Module) has been created, so it's time to make a small summary about the progress of our activities. During that time TDM has created eleven modules: five paid modules (yellow) and eight free modules (blue). Here are the new and important updates: TDMTchat 1.0 UPDATE: 04/02/2010 TDMTchat: is a module of instant conversation between members, based on the facebook chat, it allows your members to look for another user and have a private chat line. TDMsound 1.3 UPDATE: 25/01/2010 TDMSound: is a new module for managing audio library. This module includes a ajax, listening, ratings, playlists. TDMAds 1.0 UPDATE: 19/01/2010 TDMAds: is a new module for managing Ads/Announcements. This module can be completely customized with the management of additional fields. R.I.P Marcello Brandao

With our deepest sorrow we have to announce today that we lost two days ago one of our dearest XOOPS friends and supporters, and one of our most innovative developers: Marcello Brandao ( suico ), due to a cancer. Marcello was a Software Engineering and Computer Sciences expert and he was one of great XOOPS-ers who was helping here as well as on XoopsTotal and XOOPS Parana. That's what he said once about himself : Quote: " What have I done? I was the webmaster of simcitybrasil for some years, the webmaster of brasilia subway intranet, have installed or help to install many sites in brazil: www.pastoralis.com.br , www.vaivc.com , www.abin.gov.br , krista, simcity brasil cesb ...
